Here at Chapel of Faith, we are taking the time to remember and know "OUR" Black History. Each week during the month of February, we will spotlight an African-American that contributed and inspired change to the world and this country. Our youth will be presenting these incredible ancestors that paved the way.
February 28, 2021, Week
Rev. D. W. & Mariah Williams, Founder
Williams Chapel Baptist Church was established around 1879 in East Dublin, GA by Rev. D. W. & Mariah Williams. This is the great-grandfather of Supt. Pastor D. K. Jackson.
February 21, 2021, Week
Lt. Col. Allen Allensworth
Born a slave in 1842 and escaped during Civil War. He became a Union Army Soldier and later a baptist minister and educator. He was the first African American to reach the rank of lieutenant colonel and started the first black township in California.

Ida B. Wells
"The way to right wrongs is to turn the light of truth upon them..." - Ida B. Wells
She was an African-American woman journalist, abolitionist, and feminist who led anti-lynching crusade in the United States in the 1890's. She was one of the founding members of the NAACP.

Carter G. Woodson
"The Father of Black History"
A founder of The Journal of Negro History in 1916, Woodson has been called the "father of black history". In February 1926 he launched the celebration of "Negro History Week", the precursor of Black History Month.
